A nurse taking care of ole patient

What is a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)?

At Henderson Health, we strongly believe that CNAs are the backbone of healthcare, as they work very closely with patients and are often considered the "eyes" and "ears" for the healthcare team. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practice Nurse, a CNA provides direct patient to those who are sick, injured, elderly, suffering from chronic conditions or rehabilitating from acute illnesses and injuries. Their tasks and duties can include taking vitals, proper documentation, managing infection control, assisting patients with activities of daily living (i.e. eating, drinking, basic hygiene needs/care. etc.), ensuring patient safety, properly communicating with other team members, being compassionate and empathetic, and understanding the patient's cultural and spiritual needs. Ultimately, this means that the role they play on the healthcare team is so significant and essential, that when performing their duties effectively, CNAs can save lives!

How Do I Become a CNA?

If you are interested in becoming a CNA, you can enroll today to complete our CNA training program in preparation for Michigan's State regulated CNA Certification Exam (testing is done through Headmaster).
